Pupils take aptitude or basic courses in mathematics and German, depending on their academic performance.

Enrolment for aptitude courses is subject to the following conditions:
- 4.5 in mathematics and German
- 4 in French
In the event that a pupil does not meet the requirements, the class council may grant a waiver, at the request of the family, provided that the average of the compulsory subjects at the end of the second grade is at least 4.5.
Finally, we would like to point out that a student admitted to the third grade, but without the possibility of enrolling in at least one aptitude course, may repeat the second grade by family decision.
The distinction between mathematics and German courses is maintained.
Two choices are necessary:
- French or technical activities
- Music education or visual education
The Collegio Papio also offers an introduction to study course, with the aim of helping students organise their studies in class and at home.

- Repetition is not a right
- Applications are assessed individually on the basis of motivation, the behaviour and profit
- A “educational contract” (with conditions and objectives)
